In January, I collaborated with HMUA Sarah Crain and model Shannon Markesbery (Heyman Talent Agency) on a shoot to kind of personify my obsession with the passing of time and how it seems to get faster each year. I experimented with slow shutter speeds and wind from multiple fans (to blow the hair and drapey background/foreground) to create an effect of time passing in the picture. My goal was to keep the face as in-focus as possible with the slow shutter speed, so this was my very first time ever using a tripod (I also broke it…) The hourglass is actually one that my parents bought for me 20 years ago in a furniture showcase store, the year I was obsessed with Days of our Lives. It reminded me of the opening – ha. Kind of weird in itself that it’s been that long since receiving that gift!
